When challenged to design a new hotel in the beach side town of Hua Hin, Architectkidd had the chance to consider what a hotel should be in Thailand. For us, thoughtful hotel design should be simple and unostentatious, and should enhance its surroundings while providing an experience that connects guests to the local culture and landscape of Thailand.

For this hotel design, our approach was to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. By bringing the outside in, the hotel can create a calming and peaceful atmosphere.

In designing a hotel in Thailand, the guest experience is central to every aspect of the concept, from the architecture to the interior design. Our goal is to create an environment where guests feel relaxed and comfortable and also immersed in the natural surroundings of Chaam and Hua Hin, the western beachside towns of Thailand.

A key consideration in the design is creating seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to feel as though they are connected to the environment. Large windows and sliding glass doors open up to outdoor terraces, gardens, or the swimming pool, providing guests with views of landscapes and beaches.

Every hotel guest has their own unique needs, and the hotel design should cater to both privacy and comfort. The hotel has a range of room types—such as suites and beachfront villas to provide options for different preferences, whether guests seek privacy or a more communal experience.

The overall material palette and tone can be described as clean and simple, without overt reference to symbolic or typical stylistic forms. The design of the hotel was approached with a rationality that was appropriate to its construction, and utilized standard technology with programmatic flexibility.

Designing a hotel in Thailand meant for us to consider everything from architecture and interior design to services, amenities, and connection to the local environment. By creating spaces that embrace the surroundings, the hotel becomes more than just a place to stay – it is an integral part of a visitor’s journey.

Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that guests leave with not only a sense of relaxation but also an appreciation for the unique local culture of Thailand.
