Intro
Bizstay opens a new location with 30 short-stay apartments on Waldeck Pyrmontkade in The Hague. In an old office building, the structure is dynamically transformed by Amsterdam-based developer Re:Born, preserving the existing construction and minimizing environmental impact. UNSCRIPTED is responsible for the entire interior design and build scope.

Challenge
UNSCRIPTED has been tasked with the turnkey design + build assignment to create 30 apartments, an inviting lobby, gym, and office space at this unique location. Thanks to short communication lines and close collaboration with the dedicated entrepreneurs, the project has developed a unique identity. Both the interior architect and project manager are familiar with every corner and detail of the building, which is reflected in the final result.

Concept
Our goal was to create a pleasant and warm space where diverse people and cultures feel at home. We sought a balance between aesthetics and functionality, minimalism and luxury, in order to achieve an accessible and comfortable design. The materials and colors reference nature, and this atmosphere is felt throughout the entire building. The warm lobby offers a welcoming environment with an informal character. A tree rises from the basement up to the first floor, creating an architectural connection and bringing natural light into the basement.

Sustainability
The ambition was to transform outdated and vacant real estate into a building with a flexible function. This building is initially designed for living and hospitality, but it can easily adapt to other uses such as healthcare, office, or education when needed. Walden also has a social aspect in the neighborhood; people meet each other in the lobby for a coffee or in the gym. Bizstay also offers advice to its guests and connects them with local businesses. The sustainable character of the building is evident throughout, from the construction to the finishes and materials used.
