Allure

The specious kitchen was part of 4800 sq ft brand new house in Toronto. The client vision was to have a timeless, luxury kitchen with strong resale house in 5 years. What was very important was to keep the pallet bright color. Take advantage of the back yard view through the large windows. Be practical and equipped with high end efficient appliances.

The challenge we face were:

One wall of three walls of the kitchen was the floor to ceiling windows, so we have to consider the workspaces and all principle elements on two wall, 90 degrees. The width of the ketch was large, even as large as a the whole with of a house in down town of Toronto and create a stunning design in large space with bright pallet was a challenge. The concept of the whole interior design of the house was following the smooth transition from one space to another, with smooth corner and combine with sharp 90degrees.

The open concept kitchen is face to family room with large fireplace in the center of the wall. We decide to emphasize the center line of the fireplace with the centre of the hood and following with ceiling fixture which is a silent statement. Given said that we have a dirty kitchen between kitchen and dining room, we decide to have additional fridge, cooked top, sink and dish washer there. To have a practical kitchen, we followed the distance between range top, fridge and sink. And then we started to set other additional appliances around.

Given said that the client while using the oven, they need a surface immediately to put the hot dish from over, the island extended to give them a facility to work with ovens in a piece of mind. We try to put together the curves and sharp corners in a way to build up a balance and serene look. To address missing the third wall, we created a L shape island to accommodate with two walls at corner. And of course the other side of the island should be care as a good looking face and a vibe of inviting and embracing the optional breakfast area.

The kitchen design is including To manage that large width, we need to divide it to three part, main part with enhance open space for work place, preparation, two side with balance look and not symmetric. As the kitchen from the corner move to the window, we consider to have a smooth transition of heavy full cabinetry to display with glass door. The left side of the range top, as it covered partially with side wall cabinetry including the coffee machine with no interruption with terrific from or to dirty kitchen.

To follow the bright pallet, we keep the clean look, with simple and significant detail such as having trim on painted flat panels, this trim brings 9 cabinetries together and demonstrate as one units which is aligned with large scale of the kitchen. Indeed, we followed this philosophy to design the kitchen in 3-4 group of small pieces and detatils.to achieve this perspective, we bring the patterns with cnc to combine with flat panels, as the kitchen floods with lots of natural lights, we consider two opposite pattern for the CNCs, one sticking in pattern to frame the hood, range top, and two side workplace, another one sticking out pattern for the island which needs to speak up under overhang of the island.

Inputting the wood pattern to the palette came from thinking of the nature and the view to the back yard. All these calm, and aligned selection for the kitchen, needs a bold and stunning statement to play the role of the orchestra leader, then we choose the royal picklock porcelain for the island, which including all bright colors of the cabinetry, back splash with a stunning green to complete the feeling of nature with wood pattern panels. Adding the brass accent was a thought to complete the brightening and shinning idea.

The premium appliances were chosen from the latest technology and look in grey color to harmonize with other selections. There is some thoughtful built-in tray, organisation to facilitate working and enjoying in this stunning kitchen. There are two opportunities to sit on the island and chatting, having fun and eat and drink with friends, and also on the other leg, the chance to sit face to back yard, calming, relaxing and enjoy your coffee while sink to the back yard nature.

The big picture of the kitchen was built up from small pieces which each of them was cared with thoughtful detail for practically while to complete the stunning big picture. For the night time or cloudy days that we miss the natural lights, a thoughtful layouts of lightings including the spotlights, ceiling fixture, and built in light will keep the space practical in different mood depends on the situation and need of use in automated switches.

The bathroom is part of a newly built four-level home in Toronto, where we were involved from the pre-construction phase. Initially, the primary bathroom, relative to the 4,800-square-foot house, felt smaller than anticipated. Its original design featured a double vanity facing the window, a single shower tucked in a corner with a toilet, and a freestanding tub by the window, leaving the center of the room under a skylight.

With the client's vision of a timeless, luxurious home and strong resale potential, our goal was to maximize both functionality and aesthetics without increasing the bathroom's size. We reimagined the layout, moving the shower to the center of the wall, directly opposite the large fixed window. This new design created a spacious shower for both him and her, framed by two sides of frameless glass and a smooth, curb less floor transition, enhancing openness and flow.

We relocated the double vanity to the side wall near the window, allowing natural light to fill and brighten the space. The freestanding tub now sits elegantly beneath the skylight, in front of the shower, creating an open aisle in front of the window that highlights the room’s main features.

For privacy, the fully automated toilet was positioned discreetly near the entrance, with a frosted glass door to ensure natural light still floods the space. The large window overlooks the backyard and pool, and with ample distance from neighboring properties, privacy on the third floor is guaranteed.

The abundant natural light flows effortlessly through the large window, bouncing off the mirror and into the space, amplified by the small side window and the overhead skylight. This creates an ethereal atmosphere, allowing views from every corner without obstruction.

To unify the room, we chose a cohesive palette accented with matte brass, using large porcelain slabs for the floor, walls, integrated sink, and vanity. Seamless materials create a bright, open, and uninterrupted flow, elevating the space's aesthetic.
