Situated in a historic building in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, RHO transformed this 130-square-meter private apartment into a contemporary and harmonious living space. The design seeks to create an environment that feels rooted in history while embracing modern life, creating a space that reflects the owner’s personal taste while maintaining a timeless design.

The living area preserves the apartment’s original charm through restored architectural details, such as decorative cornices and tall panel doors, which are complemented by modern furniture. This combination results in an inviting, functional space that seamlessly blends old and new.

The open-plan kitchen serves as the sculptural centerpiece of the apartment, featuring a central supertable with geometric contours and high-gloss cabinetry that amplifies natural light. The central island, made from an industrial plastic material, functions not only as an extension of the kitchen but also doubles as a table accommodating up to 12 people. Pendant lighting adds a playful yet cohesive rhythm, while stainless steel surfaces ensure practicality.

Open shelving displays personal objects, bringing personality to the minimalist design.
The bathroom is a tranquil retreat, defined by dark green mosaic tiles, warm walnut cabinetry, and abundant natural light. A freestanding bathtub and dual sinks provide a luxurious yet functional touch. Graphite fixtures add a contemporary edge, while the mosaic tiles and natural wood elements enhance the space’s warmth and sophistication.
