Architectural facade profiles 

The facades of multi-tenant office building Lucis One at High Tech Campus 91 in Eindhoven incorporate no less than 4,750 m2 of aluminum composite facade elements. In accordance with the design of architectural firm INBO, these facade elements are stylishly combined with ArcelorMittal Construction's architectural Creneo facade profiles, with a chic and regular profile depth of 30 mm and in two vibrant colors. 

The ball for project HTC-91 got rolling via INBO, which was very keen on the Creneo block profiles, says Levi Kleinjan, manager Special Façades at ArcelorMittal Construction. “Creneo involves a range of custom square-profile facade claddings that allow architects to create geometries of any width, depth and design. During a visit to our Experience Center in Tiel, INBO's architects reviewed the various possibilities, based on which a number of options were selected. An extensive search for the right coating and color then began, during which we provided several samples.”  

Existing and matched colors 

The color in particular was a challenge, as it had to match the aluminum composite façade elements already selected, he says. “Architects have two options in this case: they can select a color and coating from our existing range or match a color. For Lucis One, both options were used. In the areas where green planting will be installed, block profiles and fitting plates were chosen in the matched shade RAL 7013 (Brown Grey) and with a durable 60μm Hairexcel® polyurethane coating. In other areas, block profiles and fitting plates in Intense Bronze were chosen.” 

Unique light experience  

The Intense series is pre-painted with a 60µm thick PVDF fluorinated thermoplastic paint, which is applied in multiple layers, Levi Kleinjan says. “With this, Intense coating series offers exceptional aesthetics. The metallic colors of this family create a unique light experience, which further enhances the quality of the facade. In project HTC-91, facade profiles with a regular profile depth of 30 mm were chosen, which make it very easy to make all kinds of fitting plates and whose dimensions on the facade look very good.” In collaboration with assembly partner Damu Systeembouw B.V., ArcelorMittal Construction provided the engineering of the block profiles and fitting plates. Detailing and typesetting were also coordinated, which also ensured flawless assembly.
