Archello is pleased to announce four additional jurors for the Archello Awards 2025 program. Read on to learn more about Doriana Fuksas, Satoshi Kurosaki, Vera Chu, and Ole Hallier.

Doriana Fuksas is a returning juror to the Archello Awards program. She leads Studio Fuksas, an international architectural firm with offices in Rome, Paris and Shenzhen, together with Massimiliano Fuksas. Over the past 50 years the company has developed an innovative approach through a wide variety of projects, ranging from urban interventions to airports, museums, cultural centers, spaces for music, convention centers, offices, interiors and design collections.

In tandem with continuous research and thanks to an innovative approach, the studio has completed works all over the world with a consistent attention to sustainability and inclusivity. The office’s works include: The Line, Neom, Saudi Arabia (ongoing); Gelendzhik Airport, Gelendzhik, Russia (2022); Guosen Securities Tower, Shenzhen, China (2019); New Rome - EUR Convention Centre "the Cloud" and Hotel, Rome, Italy (2016); Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, Terminal 3, Shenzhen, China (2013); and the National Archives of France, Pierrefitte sur Seine-Saint Denis, Paris, France (2013). Fuksas has also collaborated with Alessi, Poltrona Frau, Venini and iGuzzini.

Fuksas was born in Rome where she graduated with a degree in History of Modern and Contemporary Architecture at the University of Rome La Sapienza. She later also earned a degree in Architecture from ESA, École Spéciale d’Architecture, Paris. She has completed academic work at the Institute of History of Art at the Faculty of Letters and Arts and at Industrial Design Department ITACA at La Sapienza University in Rome. Fuksas has curated four Special Projects at the VII Mostra Internazionale di Architettura di Venezia. She began working with Massimiliano Fuksas in 1985 and has led, as a director, Fuksas Design since 1997. In 2002, she was decorated with the Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française, and in 2020, she was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur Française. In 2023, she was honored as Commander of the Order 'for Merit of the Italian Republic'.

Satoshi Kurosaki is CEO and architect at APOLLO Architects and Associates. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1970, he graduated from Meiji University’s Department of Architecture, School of Science and Technology. Kurosaki founded APOLLO in 2000, specializing in private residences, villas, resort hotels, and brand design. His work has gained global recognition, earning the prestigious Wallpaper* Design Award for Best New Private House.

Kurosaki has been Japan’s judge in the Italian-based Archiproducts Design Awards for seven consecutive years, further cementing his influence in the industry. His published works include APOLLO Architects & Associates Satoshi Kurosaki and APOLLO Architects & Associates Satoshi Kurosaki VOL-2 (both by Nemo Factory), as well as APOLLO TIMELESS (published by FRAME). APOLLO Architects & Associates’ project ESPACE was named House of the Year (Urban) – Small category in the Archello Awards 2024 program.

Vera Chu is the Co-Founder and Lighting Design Director of Vermilion Zhou Design Group. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Architecture and Lighting Design at Parsons School of Design in New York. While in New York, Chu worked as a professional lighting designer for Leni Schwendinger Light Projects Ltd. and Gary Gordon Architectural Lighting Design Ltd. Her experience spans both stage and architectural lighting, allowing her to merge theory with practice in her designs.

In 2002, Chu co-founded Vermilion Zhou Design Group in Shanghai alongside Ray Chou, where she serves as Director of Lighting Design. Her expertise in lighting enhances the atmosphere of various interior projects, creating diverse and layered spatial experiences. The studio’s design philosophy prioritizes the comfort of occupants, emphasizing the interplay between logical planning and emotional resonance in lighting. Vermilion Zhou Design Group’s project H World Group Global Headquarters was named Office Interior of the Year – Large category in the Archello Awards 2024 program.

Ole Hallier has led the Berlin office of pape + pape architekten since early 2023. He completed his architectural studies at TU Berlin and ETH Zurich. Prior to joining pape + pape, he gained experience at Smith and Thompson Architects in New York, David Chipperfield Architects in Berlin, and Wiel Arets Architects in Amsterdam. His diverse background spans furniture design, complex facade systems, and large-scale projects.

Hallier eventually returned to Berlin, where he collaborated for many years with architect Bettina Kraus on sophisticated residential and remodeling projects. His extensive international experience and collaboration with renowned firms have given him a broad perspective on design and process. He values the diversity of approaches to shaping buildings, places, and ideas, crafting solutions that are both highly specific and aesthetically refined. pape + pape architekten’s project Bibliothek Kloster Loccum was named Library Building of the Year in the Archello Awards 2024 program.
