COTTAGE AT LIPNO

COTTAGE AT LIPNO

The gently sloping land is situated in close proximity to the Lipno reservoir. The building’s placement on the plot is carefully chosen to ensure that the main living area provides a view of the water surface. The house’s form draws inspiration from the typology of traditional Šumava cottages. The black façade, made of burnt larch, contrasts with the light interior, which is entirely constructed from spruce bioboards.

The timber-framed structure rests on a stone platform that encircles the building on three sides, creating both covered and uncovered terraces. The layout of the ground floor is designed as an open, airy space seamlessly connected to the exterior, with its main section elevated to the ridge of the roof. The attic houses two bedrooms and a gallery.

Movable sliding wooden shutters on the ground floor provide a sense of security and privacy. The natural garden is highlighted by a mature swamp oak.
