Carioca refuge in São Paulo: A 38m² apartment reimagined for comfort and personality

In São Paulo, a 38m² flat-style apartment was given the feel of a private refuge, designed for a client from Rio de Janeiro who lived on the air bridge between Rio de Janeiro and the capital of São Paulo. The proposal to transform the small property, originally delivered ready-made, was conducted with the aim of creating a cozy and practical environment, where the client could feel at home, even in a compact space.

The main need was to integrate comfort and functionality, with a focus on the coziness that refers to Rio de Janeiro, the resident's place of origin. To achieve this, a series of interventions were carried out, such as replacing the cold floor with wood-effect vinyl and redesigning the carpentry, which gained wooden elements and light finishes. The biggest challenge, however, was to provide thermal comfort in a climate so different from Rio. Installing heated floors, in addition to optimizing thermal comfort in the apartment, was a creative solution for the colder days in São Paulo, while the balcony, integrated into the living room, was kept cooler, ideal for spending time with Nina, the family's Golden Retriever.

The transformation also resulted in the creation of a smart layout. The dining room gained a corner to save space, and the balcony was integrated into the living room, creating a more fluid circulation and increasing the feeling of spaciousness. Details, such as the inclusion of mirrors on the dining room walls, reflecting natural light, give the space a feeling of greater depth and luminosity.

Another highlight of the project was the choice of furniture, such as the Saarinen dining table and the Cyborg Club chair, which brought a touch of sophistication and personality to the space. Every detail was thought out so that the apartment, despite being compact, met the needs of the client and her family, including the possibility of receiving guests in a cozy environment.

Collaboration with suppliers such as Marcenaria Arte da Barra and Dimlux, which specializes in lighting, was also essential for the creation of this project, which combines practicality and style, reflecting the identity and desires of the resident.

With a contemporary style and focused on the specific needs of the client, the project becomes an example of how small adjustments can transform a property into a true home, offering comfort, charm and functionality without sacrificing aesthetics.
