Atsuo Arii is an architect and the principal of Arii Irie Architects, a Tokyo-based design practice for architecture. He also is an Assistant Professor at Tokyo University of Science.
Arii Irie Architects was founded in 2015 and seeks innovative contextual approaches in projects ranging from single-family housing to installations, public buildings and urban space.
After working as an intern at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam, he joined CAt, led by Kazuhiro Kojima and Kazuko Akamatsu in Tokyo. During his experience there from 2010-2015, he was involved in various projects in Japan. He led two projects from competition phase to construction; the Bluewave Technologies Asutopia Factory, completed in 2013, and the New Hakushima Station, completed in 2015.
He holds a Masters in Socio-Cultural Environmental studies from the University of Tokyo, and a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Tokyo.
